After we first launched ButteHalloween.com and before we became a company, we had the first ever Butte Zombie Walk on the B&H Trail north of town by Walkerville as a food drive. It was fun, it raised a box of food, and we decided to do it again. It was an annual event until the Apocalypse put the kabosh on fun in 2020 and didn't return until 2022, when it returned with a vengeance.
In 2023, the scheduling ran into issues and it was a smaller, but still fun party.
This year, we're expecting to go all out again, as we have partnered with the Clark Chateau to hold the 2024 Zombie Jamboree in the ballroom of the fabulous (and spooky) Clark Chateau.
The Zombie Jamboree is a pay-what-you-can fundraiser party for the Butte Emergency Food Bank. We call it the Food For Brainz Campaign. Make whatever donation to the food bank you can, be it $5, a can of peas, or $500, they appreciate whatever they can get as they start going into the winter and holiday season, which can be quite rough on them.
We'll start out with a makeup workshop at the Emporium, start walking at 7, arrive at the Chateau at 7:45, and have a dance party with drinks and plenty of brains to eat.
Alley behind the M&M looking west
We will help you get your gruesome on with some simple makeup. There's often quite the crowd, though, so if you want a great look, you're probably better off becoming an expert yourself. Here are some tutorials:
The map to the right shows the whole course, as well as starting locations for shorter walks.
If you want to do a 45-minute walk, start at the Geek Emporium. If you want to do a 30-minute walk, start at the Copper Block. If you want to do a 20-minute walk, start at Emma Park, and if you want to do a 10-minute walk, start at the Old St. James. The various start times for those walks are listed on the map along with their locations.
If you're there to take pictures, click to access a map of how to quickly get from one photo op to the next. It's a bit crude, though. Google doesn't realize that from the end of the first alley we go down, you don't have to back all the way out, you can just go south to Park Street. I'm working on trying to figure out how to tell Google Maps about that.
Even in Butte it's not every day you see a parade of undead. If you're just here as an observer, follow this map to get from one photo op to the next. It does contain a small glitch, though. Google doesn't realize that to get back out of the alley you don't have to go all the way back to the entrance. You can just walk straight to Park Street.
Come eat brains! We'll have plenty on offer, and they always get great reviews. We'll also have plenty to drink: T-Virus, some 2-4-5 Trioxin, a bottle of SCP-008, probably some cider, too.
Donate what you can to the Butte Emergency Food Bank and dance to the music.
